FIFA AND AFRICA RANKING NIGERIA STILL 45^TH IN THE WORLD, THEN 1ST IN AFRICA

DESPITE the gaining seven points, the Super Eagles remained on the 45^th position in the May FIFA ranking released on Thursday.

   Nigeria dropped four places from 41^st to 45^th in April following their poor performances in the friendlies they played in March. They lost to Uganda and drew 1-1 with South Africa.

   The Eagles, who played no match in the period under review, also remaining number one on the continent,

  Africa champions ivory Coast are 23^rd and second in Africa, Ghana 26^th and third in Africa, Tunisia, who are fourth on the continent, dropped to 31^st in the world. Senegal, who are 36^th; Cape Verde, who are 37^th and Guinea who are 41^st are fifth, sixth and seventh in Africa respectively.

The teams in Nigeria’s group in the Gabon 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers: Egypt, Tanzania and Chad are ranking 51^st, 107^th and 152^nd respectively.

      The Eagles are expected to start arriving for camping next weekend as they prepare to host Chad on June 13^th in Abuja for their first 2017 AFCON qualifying match.
