DESPITE the gaining seven points,
the Super Eagles remained on the 45th position in the May FIFA
ranking released on Thursday.
Nigeria dropped four places from 41st to 45th in
April following their poor performances in the friendlies they played in March.
They lost to Uganda and drew 1-1 with South Africa.
The Eagles, who played no match in the period under review, also
remaining number one on the continent,
Africa champions ivory Coast are 23rd and second in Africa,
Ghana 26th and third in Africa, Tunisia, who are fourth on the
continent, dropped to 31st in the world. Senegal, who are 36th;
Cape Verde, who are 37th and Guinea who are 41st are
fifth, sixth and seventh in Africa respectively.
The teams in Nigeria’s group in the Gabon 2017 Africa
Cup of Nations qualifiers: Egypt, Tanzania and Chad are ranking 51st,
107th and 152nd respectively.
The Eagles are expected to start arriving
for camping next weekend as they prepare to host Chad on June 13th
in Abuja for their first 2017 AFCON qualifying match.
