Wolfbury midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has dedicated his side’s
victory in the DFB-Pokal final to former teammate Junior Malanda, who died in a
car crash earlier this year.
Dieter Hecking’s side lifted the trophy for the first time
after defecting Borussia Dortmund 3-1in the final, with the former Chelsea man
netting their second.
“We have kept playing for him since the winter break. We had
him with us and he would have hoped we won it, “De Bruyne told ARD after the game.
“it was a great game for us. We struggled in the first 20
minutes but after that we played great.”
Dortmund took an early lead through Pierre-Emerick
Aubameyany, but Luiz Gustavo cancelled out his opener before De Bruyne put
Wolfbury in front. Bas Dost added a third to put them out of sight before half
time.
